The Mighty Chains of Wonderment.

I'm still waiting on that fondest recollection
of that cookie-cutter image of the one I was inside.


And as the pieces of this mask fall out of place
the more I realize how none of the shades of paint match.


And I wonder desperately if they ever actually did.
I wonder if the wings of hope had been clipped at birth


Without the insatiable hunger to drive the wounds to flight.
But I discover my ship's lost on a sea of wonderment,


Having forgotten this fearless mast of pursuit.
Too many questions found and too many answers lost at sea


Because all of the treasure we hunted after was frivolous.
